Businessman arrested for illegally transporting liquor bottles

During the ongoing Operation ‘Yukthiya’, police have arrested a businessman in the Delkanda area for allegedly transporting a stock of bottles of liquor without the required permit.
The suspect’s vehicle, which was stopped and searched at a checkpoint near High-Level Road in Delkanda, was found to contain 72 bottles of liquor, including foreign brands of alcohol, and 168 cans of beer.
According to police, the 67-year-old businessman from Kohuwala is set to be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court, along with the seized alcohol, to face legal proceedings.
