Spread of infectious diseases within prisons on the rise

The Department of Prisons states that the prevalence of infectious diseases within the prisons has increased due to the rapid increase in the imprisonment of drug addicts.
The Director of Prisons Health Services Dr. Hemantha Ranasinghe expressed that the health authorities of the Department of Prisons have paid strict attention to the matter.
Furthermore, Dr. Ranasinghe pointed out that drug-addicted inmates are more susceptible to infectious diseases due to their reduced immunity.
