Kerala Cannabis worth over Rs. 33 mn seized in Jaffna

A consignment of over 84kg of Kerala cannabis has been recovered from the Northern coast, during a joint operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Navy, together with the Army and the Police Special Task Force (STF).
The operation, carried out near Wallipuram, Jaffna on January 8, led to the discovery of 40 packages containing 84.6 kg of cannabis stuffed into three large sacks found hidden in shrubs along the beach.
The stock of cannabis, which was subsequently handed over to the Point Pedro Police, has an estimated street value of over Rs. 33 million, according to the Sri Lanka Navy.
