Sri Lanka-Türkiye agreement on eliminating double taxation comes into effect

The agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Türkiye on the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance has come into effect.
It was signed on 28 January 2022 during the official visit of then-Foreign Minister of Türkiye Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Sri Lanka.
The agreement thus became effective on 11 December 2023 after the completion of internal requirements of both countries.
As Sri Lanka and Türkiye celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations this year, coming into effect of this agreement which would bring mutual benefits to the people of both countries is yet another cornerstone in bilateral relations.
