Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to bowl first in their second World Cup Qualifier match against Oman.

The teams will be facing each other for the 11th match in the series, on the pitch of the Queens Sports Club in Zimbabwe.

“We are going to bowl, overcast conditions, so look to maximize the conditions. It does swing in the first 10 overs, so I expect the same. We are a confident side, but they are a good side too”, Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka said.

Sri Lanka started off the tournament with a 175-run win over UAE. Zeeshan Maqsood’s side are in red-hot form at the moment with two wins from two matches so far.

Oman upset Ireland in the Qualifiers by 5 wickets in the opening match. They then beat UAE by the same margin to maintain their winning run. But it won’t be so easy against current Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka.

Opining on the match and Sri Lanka’s decision to bowl first, Zimbabwe’s Tino Mawoyo said “No surprises from the captain in opting to bowl first. It’s because of the pitch, because you expect the ball to seam around a bit and just slow down later. Overcast conditions also support the fact that win the toss, bowl first, come in the afternoon and knock those runs down”.

Oman (Playing XI): Kashyap Prajapati, Jatinder Singh, Aqib Ilyas, Shoaib Khan, Zeeshan Maqsood(c), Mohammad Nadeem, Ayaan Khan, Naseem Khushi(w), Bilal Khan, Jay Odedra, Fayyaz Butt

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis(w), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka(c), Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara
