Sri Lanka breezed through the first innings of their match against Oman, with Oman all out for 98 runs in 30.2 overs.
Star bowler Wanindu Hasaranga, who was titled Man of the Match in Sri Lanka’s first Qualifiers match against UAE, smashed yet another five-wicket haul against Oman today (23 June) , after Lahiru Kumara set the tone early, taking out Kashyap Harishbhai in the first over.
Hasaranga ran through the Oman lower order by striking thrice in a single over. Ayaan Khan did make them work hard for his wicket but Hasaranga accounted for him as well. He then went to wrap up the Oman innings by trapping Bilal Khan in front of the stumps.
As far as Oman are concerned, only three batters were able to reach two figures which sum up their story with the bat.
They were unable to weather the storm of the Sri Lankan bowlers and were struggling at 20-4.
Ayaan Khan and Jatinder Singh then got together and started the repair job for Oman. However, the latter’s departure in the 21st over pegged them back them once again. In no time, they were reduced to 72-7 but Ayaan Khan stood strong and showed resistance with his knock of 41 runs.
He was running out of partners and in the end, fell prey to Wanindu Hasaranga.
His dismissal meant the tail was unable to take Oman over 100.
