Rs. 2.2mn in cash found inside bunker in Udugampola

Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers have found ill-gotten cash amounting to Rs. 2.2 million inside an underground bunker at a house located in Udugampola.
The house is said to be owned by a close associated of an accomplice of the notorious criminal figure ‘Ganemulla Sanjeewa’ who is in custody under detention orders.
A man and a woman were inside the house at the time of the raid, and after going through the woman’s mobile phone, the PNB officers uncovered traces of online transactions of drug money.
Accordingly, the woman, 29, was placed under arrest for onward investigations. The PNB officers said they intend to secure a detention order to further interrogate the arrestee to expose the drug syndicate she was involved with.
