A notorious underworld figure was arrested on Tuesday (30 Jan.), while in possession of a cache of weapons, police reported.
According to police, the arrest was made during the ongoing anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’.
Accordingly, the suspect was taken into custody while in possession of a T-56 firearm, two magazines, 28 rounds of ammunition, an air rifle, seven swords and two locally-made hand grenades, police said.
A total of 868 suspects were arrested by security forces personnel within 24 hours ending at 12:30 a.m. today, during the ongoing operation ‘Yukthiya’.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the narcotics taken into custody during this period include 120g of heroin, 98 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and 31,611 narcotic pills. Additionally, 123kg of cannabis and 9,708 cannabis plants too were impounded.
