
The bodies of an elderly couple have been found inside a house in Mirihana on Thursday (Feb.08).
Officers of Mirihana Police had inspected the house after a neighbour reported a foul odour coming from the house.
The body of the 80-year-old husband was discovered lying on the bed of one of the rooms, while the 96-year-old wife’s found naked on the kitchen floor.
Police believe that the couple had died several days ago.
After facts were presented to the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court and the magistrate’s inquest was completed, the bodies were moved to the mortuary of Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila for the post-mortem.
Mirihana Police has initiated investigations to uncover the cause and manner of deaths to determine whether it was a murder.
