
Several spells of light showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts, says the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may occur in parts of Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times in the eastern slopes of the central hills and Northern, North-central, North-western, Uva and Eastern provinces and Hambantota and Kandy districts.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers can occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Colombo to Kankesanturai via Puttalam.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Colombo to Kankesanturai via Puttalam can be rough at times.
