
President Ranil Wickremesinghe, accompanied by the FAO Director General Qu Dongyu, on Tuesday inaugurated the Thirty-seventh Session of the Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (APRC) of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the Hilton Hotel, Colombo.
Several matters of concerns including the state of food and agriculture in the region, agrifood systems transformation and solutions particularly for smallholders and family farmers, are set to be discussed at the high-level Ministerial in-person event.
UN FAO Director Genera Qu Dongyu arrived in Sri Lanka on 18 February for a three-day visit to participate in APRC37, which will see the participation of Government Ministers and Heads of Delegations from as many as 46 Member Nations gathering in Colombo.
