IUSF convenor released on bail

The convenor of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Madushan Chandrajith and another student activist, who were arrested during a protest in Colombo yesterday, have been released on bail.

They were ordered released on personal bonds of Rs. 500,000 each by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court when they were produced before the court today (07).

The IUSF convenor and another student activist were arrested by police during the protest march staged by a large number of university students in Colombo yesterday, which was subsequently met with water cannons fired by the police.
