Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to bat first against Afghanistan in the sixth match of the 2023 Asia Cup tournament.
The two teams are set to lock horns at 03:00 p.m. today (05 Sep.), at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.
Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi did not, however, seem disappointed by losing the toss, stating that the team would have elected to bowl first anyways.
This, however, is an important match for the two teams, as the qualification scenario for the whole group – Group B - will depend on how this match pans out.
As it stands, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have won a match each, with Sri Lanka leading the table on the basis of a higher NRR.
In order to cement their place on the Super 4, however, the Lions will need to win this match.
