
The Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers are possible at times today in the Eastern and Uva provinces.
Meanwhile, several spells of showers are likely in North-central and Northern provinces.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere in the island in the afternoon or at night.
Heavy showers above 100mm are expected in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Members of the public are urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara can be fairly rough at times.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
