Fairly heavy showers expected in parts of the island

The Meteorology Department forecasts showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western provinces during the afternoon or night.
Several spells of showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces, it said.
Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places in Rathnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
