Three activists arrested during a recent protest march organized by the ‘Jana Aragala Vyaparaya’ (People’s Struggle Movement) have been further remanded.

When produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court earlier today (27), Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) activist Duminda Nagamuwa, youth activist Lahiru Weerasekara, and Ven. Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thero were ordered to be further remanded until April 03.

The trio was arrested during a demonstration held on March 20 during which at least 05 police officers were injured during the clashes with protesters. It had been organized by the People’s Struggle Movement based on several issues including the soaring cost of living and certain foreign agreements the government intends to sign.

Police had resorted to using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters in Pettah, Colombo.
