Sri Lanka bat first against India in Asia Cup final

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the 2023 Asia Cup Final match to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo this afternoon (Sep 17).

 

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka said “we’ll bat first. Seems like a good wicket, there will be some turn in the afternoon”.

 

“Last year, we weren’t able to get these crowds but this time we are really fortunate”, he added.

 

In case of rain, there is a reserve day on Monday for the final. 

 

Sri Lanka have made one change, off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana is replaced legspinner Dushan Hemantha. Theekshana has pick up a hamstring injury during their Super Four match against Pakistan. 

 

For India, Washignton Sundar is in for Axar Patel, while Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj, who missed the last match against Bangladesh are back too.
