Mother of three dies in acid attack

A woman has reportedly died following an acid attack inside a house in Kahawa, according to Ambalangoda Police.
The deceased has been identified as Gonapinuwala Premalatha, a 59-year-old mother of three, who reportedly supplies food to a school.
Police suspect that an unidentified person had entered the house at around 4 a.m. today (20) and carried out the acid attack while she had been preparing meals in the kitchen.
She was subsequently rushed to the Balapitiya Base Hospital by her neighbors and relatives following the incident, however she had succumbed to injuries shortly after the admission.
Ambalangoda Police are conducting further investigations in this regard.
