South Africa’s Aiden Markram won the toss and put Bangladesh to bowl first in the 23rd match of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday (Oct. 24).
A formidable South African unit is looking to extend their supremacy when they meet Bangladesh in their Tuesday encounter.
Apart from a lone and unexpected hiccup against Netherlands, the Proteas unit have enjoyed a fine run in the showpiece event. They sit third on the ten-team points table and a win will help them climb to the second position.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, are placed seventh, having secured just one win in the four matches. They head into the contest after enduring three losses on the trot and will hope to return to winning ways.
If we compare both the sides South Africa appear as favourites and considering the form they are in, stopping them will require something special. Temba Bavuma didn’t play in the previous encounter and is expected to return in the playing XI. Reeza Hendricks despite scoring a brilliant 85 off 75 in the previous encounter against England is likely to make way for the South Africa skipper.
Bangladesh also have problems aplenty and will be without the service of their premier pacer Taskin Ahmed, who is still recovering from a shoulder injury. Shakib Al Hasan didn’t play the previous encounter against India and the management would want their skipper to return at the helm. However, it depends on his fitness.
