Death toll from adverse weather rises to 26 in Sri Lanka

The total number of fatalities reported due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the island has increased to 26, according to State Minister of Defence, Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon. 

 

Meanwhile, 41 persons have been injured due to various incidents caused by the extreme weather, the minister told the Parliament on Tuesday (4).

 

Additionally, the State Minister revealed that total of 130,021 persons from 33,422 families within 262 Divisional Secretariat divisions of 23 districts in the island have been affected by the prevailing disaster situation.

 

The State Minister has further stated that 9,248 people belonging to 2,368 families have been moved to 116 regional relief centres established across the island.
