The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) today (07) informed the general public regarding the method for obtaining the Rs. 10,000 grant to be provided by the government in order to clean up the flood-affected houses.
Director of the DMC, Pradeep Kodippili stated that the Grama Niladhari certificate and a recommendation, is required for the purpose.
“The government has decided to provide Rs. 10,000 each for the families affected by floods in order to clean up their houses. People will need to submit the Grama Niladhari certificate and a recommendation [from the Grama Niladhari officer] to obtain this grant”, Mr. Kodippili said.
Furthermore, the DMC Director expressed that people of 113 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in 13 districts have been affected by the prevailing extreme weather conditions across the island since June 01, 2024.
