The Ministry of Rural Development has announced that 1,000 development projects are scheduled to commence island-wide tomorrow (02) under the ‘Praja Shakthi’ National Movement, which aims to eradicate multidimensional poverty among rural communities.
An allocation of Rs. 25 billion has been earmarked for projects identified by Community Development Councils that directly contribute to the production economy, food security, and livelihood development.
The funds required for the implementation of these projects have already been released to all districts, it said.
The main inauguration ceremony of the “Praja Shakthi Gam Dahasaka Wada Dahasak” programme is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in the Ambagaspitiya area, within the Mahara Divisional Secretariat Division in the Gampaha District.
Simultaneously, district-level programmes will be conducted under the leadership of the respective District Coordinating Committee Chairmen. Plans are in place to initiate between three and five projects in every Divisional Secretariat Division, it added.
The Ministry further stated that these projects will be implemented with the active participation of Community Development Council members, government officials, and supporting agencies.
