The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), together with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment and Chairman of the District Development Committee (DDC), Arun Hemachandra, co-chaired a Public Day Programme at the Trincomalee District Secretariat, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The programme provided an opportunity for members of the veteran community and the general public in Trincomalee to present their concerns, grievances, and development-related issues directly to the relevant authorities.
During the event, the Deputy Minister reviewed a range of matters raised by veterans and local residents and instructed the relevant authorities to take the necessary action in an efficient and timely manner.
Senior government officials and representatives of local authorities were also present at the event.
