A suspect has been arrested following a shooting incident that occurred in Mudunkotuwa, Kiriella, this morning (03).
Police said the gunfire occurred during a confrontation between two groups, with a member of one party allegedly firing a shot into the air.
The shot was reportedly fired using a pistol-type firearm, and no injuries were caused by the gunfire itself.
However, one person sustained injuries during the clash and was admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital for treatment.
Kiriella Police have taken into custody a suspect along with the firearm believed to have been used in the incident. Investigations are underway to locate another suspect allegedly involved in the confrontation.
The arrested suspect is due to be produced before the Ratnapura Magistrate’s Court.
