Eheliyagoda Police OIC granted bail

The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Eheliyagoda Police Station, who was arrested by the Ratnapura Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau and produced before the court, has been released on bail.

 

This order was given when he was produced before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court today (4).

 

The OIC was released on three personal bail bonds of Rs. 1 million each, while the court also imposed a travel ban. In addition, an order has been issued refraining him from influencing the complainants.

 

The arrest was made yesterday (03) on charges of acting unlawfully during the investigation of a complaint regarding the theft of a gemstone, by forcibly taking money belonging to witnesses and suspects involved in the case and failing to conduct the investigation.
