The General Treasury’s report regarding the diversion of USD 2.5 million, which was originally due to be paid to an Australian company, but was allegedly redirected to another party, has been handed over to the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance (CoPF).
The Chairman of the Committee, Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha de Silva, stated that when the committee met today (04), steps were taken to distribute the report to all its members.
He further stated that the report will be reviewed and the matter will be discussed with the Finance Secretary next week.
It is reported that the General Treasury had initially sent the report to the private residence of the CoPF Chairman.
However, he reportedly refused to accept it and returned it yesterday (03), stating that the relevant report should be submitted to Parliament, but not to his private residence.
