
Sri Lanka Police have issued a statement addressing remarks made by former Member of Parliament Udaya Gammanpila concerning former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay, who has been arrested on suspicion in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attacks and is currently being held under detention orders by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The statement clarifies that, contrary to the claims made by the former Member of Parliament, the Police have not subjected Suresh Sallay to any form of assault or inhumane treatment.
It further states that Suresh Sallay is being treated in accordance with standard procedures applicable to all suspects, without any preferential treatment or negligence being afforded.
