CoPF summons Treasury Secretary, CBSL Governor over US$ 2.5 cyber heist probe

The Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) met today (08) at the Parliament complex at around 3:00 p.m. under the chairmanship of its Chairman, Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva.

 

During the session, members discussed reports submitted by the Secretary to the Treasury regarding a payment of US$ 2.5 million made by the Treasury to a third party.

 

It has been reported that the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, have been instructed to appear before the Committee in relation to the matter.

 

The Committee had previously requested a report from the Treasury concerning the transfer of US$ 2.5 million to a third party.

 

Chairman Harsha de Silva further noted that the report was submitted to Parliament last week and subsequently circulated among committee members.
