The Attorney General today informed the Court of Appeal that no decision has been taken at this time to arrest or detain Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of Police Waruna Jayasundera under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
SDIG Jayasundara had filed a writ petition before the Court of Appeal seeking an order to prevent his arrest and detention in connection with the investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath, appearing for the Attorney General, made this notification when the writ petition was taken up today before the Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal subsequently ordered that the petition be taken up again next Wednesday (17).
