Showers expected in several parts of the island today

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, today (14), the Department of Meteorology said.
A few showers may occur in Mannar and Anuradhapura districts, it stated.
Strong winds about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the central hills,
Northern and North-central provinces and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Fairly strong winds about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over other areas of island, the Met. Department added.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by
temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
