An individual has been arrested in Kuliyapitiya after police uncovered a container carrying motorcycle chassis and engines, along with a stock of high-value imported liquor.
Police said the raid was carried out based on information received by the Kuliyapitiya Police. The operation was conducted with the assistance of the Special Task Force (STF) and officers from the Division Criminal Investigation Unit under the direct supervision of senior police officials.
During the search, officers discovered 42 motorcycle chassis and engines, along with 190 bottles of expensive Japanese-made liquor reportedly concealed within the shipment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the items were imported under the guise of motorcycle spare parts from Japan. Authorities believe the consignment may be linked to a smuggling operation.
The Kuliyapitiya Police have launched further investigations into the incident to determine those involved and the full extent of the alleged racket.
