The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sharda has departed Sri Lanka after concluding a goodwill visit, the Sri Lanka Navy said.
The vessel, which arrived in the island on June 10, was accorded a traditional naval farewell at the Port of Colombo upon its departure.
During its stay, the Commanding Officer of INS Sharda held official discussions with the Commander of the Western Naval Area and the Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet. The meetings, held at the Western Naval Command Headquarters and the Naval Fleet Headquarters respectively, focused on matters of mutual interest between the two navies.
The visit also facilitated a series of personnel exchanges aimed at strengthening camaraderie and cooperation, the Navy noted. Sailors from INS Sharda and Sri Lanka Navy personnel took part in friendly sporting activities, including a volleyball match, as well as a joint yoga session.
Additionally, Sri Lanka Navy personnel were given the opportunity to tour the visiting vessel, while the crew of INS Sharda visited several culturally significant sites across the island.
Naval authorities said the visit further strengthened professional ties and goodwill between the two forces.
