
The Court of Appeal has commenced hearing the petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, seeking an order to prevent his arrest in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.
The petition is being considered before a bench comprising of Justices Rohantha Abeysooriya and Sarath Dissanayake, Ada Derana reporter said.
President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva is appearing on behalf of the petitioner, former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, while Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath is representing the respondents.
The respondents named in the petition are the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Shani Abeysekara, Officer-in-Charge of the CID Madhava Gunawardena, and the Attorney General.
