
The Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, stated that a total of 1,955 individuals have been recruited to the Sri Lanka Postal Service over the past 18 months.
The Minister made these remarks while attending a ceremony held today (18) to grant permanent appointments to a total of 192 acting Sub-Postmasters who had been serving for a prolonged period.
He further noted that an additional 303 Postal Service officers are scheduled to be recruited on July 1, bringing the total new recruitment to 2,258.
According to the Ministry, a Cabinet Memorandum submitted by Minister Jayatissa to confirm the permanent appointment of acting Sub-Postmasters who have been serving since around 2019 was approved on October 15, 2026.
Accordingly, the Ministry further stated that out of the 196 eligible officers who were serving prior to that date, a total of 192 acting Sub-Postmasters who fulfilled the qualifications have been granted permanent appointments.
