Special traffic plan for Urawatta Gangarama Perahera in Ambalangoda

Sri Lanka Police has announced that the annual Perahera of the Urawatta Gangarama Viharaya, within the Ambalangoda Police Division, is scheduled to be held from 2.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. tomorrow (20) along the Galle–Colombo main road. 

 

The procession will commence from the Gangarama Purana Viharaya and proceed via the Urawatta Gangaramaya Junction onto the Galle Road, according to a statement issued by the Police Media Division.

 

It will continue along the main road near the Hirewatte Buddha Statue up to the Ambalangoda Roundabout, after which it will return along the Galle Road to the Urawatta Gangaramaya Junction and subsequently turn off at that junction to reach the Urawatta Gangaramaya Purana Viharaya. 

 

Traffic Diversions 

 

In view of the above event, the Police request motorists and the general public using this route during the specified time period to utilize the following alternative route: 

 

  • Vehicles travelling from Colombo to Galle (excluding heavy vehicles) may proceed via the Galle–Colombo main road by diverting through Sangharaja Viharaya near Kepu Ela Junction, continuing via Wathugedara Junction, Polwatta Junction, Pollawwa Junction, Batapola, and Kahawa Junction, before rejoining the Galle–Colombo main road near Sangharaja Viharaya via Kepu Ela Junction.
