
Sri Lanka Police have uncovered more details regarding the discovery of a woman’s body inside a parked car in the Teldeniya area.
Investigators suspect that the death of the woman, a physiotherapist attached to the Ampara General Hospital, has been caused by strangulation.
Meanwhile, police have sought public assistance to locate the victim’s boyfriend, who is suspected of committing the murder. However, the suspect has not yet been apprehended.
Investigators have nevertheless uncovered a considerable amount of information regarding the suspect.
According to police, although the suspect had introduced himself to the victim as Dineth Dissanayake, his real name, as stated on his National Identity Card, is Jayasundara Mudiyanselage Champika Sriyan Jayasundara, a resident of the Narammala area.
Police further revealed that the suspect had allegedly concealed his true appearance to an extent by wearing a wig. Investigators have also found that he had maintained relationships with several women and is allegedly linked to multiple incidents involving the deception of women for financial gain.
The suspect is reportedly the facing legal proceedings before the Magistrate’s Courts in Gampaha, Aluthkade, Tissamaharama and Padukka. In addition, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has also received complaints against him concerning incidents of obtaining money by deceiving women.
Police suspect that the accused, a 43-year-old father of three, had carried out these alleged offences with the assistance and support of his legal wife.
Investigators have also raised doubts over whether the suspect is in fact a software engineer, as he had claimed to the victims, suspecting that the assertion may have been part of an effort to deceive women.
Investigations into the suspect are currently being conducted by three police teams under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samarakoon Banda, who is in charge of the Nuwara Eliya Division.
