
Another four individuals accused of obstructing the duties of officers attached to the Dimbula Pathana Police have been remanded until July 6.
The suspects are alleged to have behaved in a disorderly manner and obstructed police officers who were attempting to intervene in a clash that erupted between two groups during a wedding ceremony in Kotagala town, Hatton.
The main suspect in the incident, along with two others, surrendered before the Hatton Magistrate’s Court through legal counsel today (22).
Following consideration of the case, Hatton District Judge and Magistrate Peter Paul ordered the three suspects to be remanded until July 6.
An officer attached to the Dimbula Pathana Police stated that the suspects had been evading arrest and had fled the area following the incident.
Earlier, 11 other suspects connected to the incident were arrested by the Dimbula Pathana Police and produced before the Hatton Magistrate’s Court.
Subsequently, the court remanded the suspects until today and later released them on personal bail of Rs. 50,000 each. The court also ordered that the case be recalled on July 6, said Ada Derana reporter.
The Dimbula Pathana Police have filed charges against the suspects under several counts, including unlawful assembly, assaulting a public servant, obstructing police officers in the discharge of their duties and disorderly conduct while intoxicated in a public place.
