
Two people have died in separate road accidents reported in Kokkuvil and Kilinochchi areas, according to police.
In the first incident, a motorcyclist has been killed following a collision with a three-wheeler on the Kokkuvil–Panichchiadi road.
Police said the motorcycle, which was travelling towards Thiramadu, had collided with a three-wheeler approaching from the opposite direction.
The rider had sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Batticaloa Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The deceased has been identified as a 42-year-old resident of the Batticaloa area, police said.
Kokkuvil Police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
Meanwhile, another fatal accident had occurred near the Northern Provincial Sports Complex in Kilinochchi town along the A9 road.
Police said a motorcycle travelling towards Jaffna had struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The pedestrian, the motorcyclist, and the pillion rider had sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital for treatment, police said.
The pedestrian, a 62-year-old man, had later succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.
Kilinochchi Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
