
The Colombo High Court has ordered that the case filed by the Attorney General against Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, who is accused of making a statement deemed insulting to the religion of Islam, be called again on July 31.
As Colombo High Court Judge Buddhika C. Ragala, the presiding judge in the case, was on official leave today, the matter was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga, according to Ada Derana reporter.
Following consideration of the facts presented, the Judge ordered that the case be called on July 31 for a pre-trial conference.
Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero appeared before the court when the case was taken up today.
The Attorney General has filed the case against Ven. Gnanasara Thero, alleging that he made statements detrimental to Islam and acted in a manner that could disrupt inter-communal harmony.
