Female suspect arrested over Rs. 2 mln foreign employment fraud

A 41-year-old woman has been arrested by the Horana Special Crimes Investigation Unit for allegedly defrauding a victim of Rs. 2 million by falsely promising to secure foreign employment.

 

Police said the investigation was launched following a complaint lodged with the Horana Special Crimes Investigation Unit, alleging that the suspect had obtained Rs. 2 million under the pretext of arranging overseas employment.

 

Acting on the investigation, a team of officers from the Horana Special Crimes Investigation Unit arrested the suspect last morning (26) in the Alubomulla Police Division.

 

The suspect is a resident of the Panadura area, said police.

 

Further investigations are being carried out by the Horana Special Crimes Investigation Unit.
