An individual has been attacked to death using a sharp weapon in the Kinchigune area within the Weeraketiya Police Division.
Investigations have been initiated by the Weeraketiya Police last night (27), based on information recieved.
The deceased has been identified as a 30-year-old resident of the Hakuruwela area, police said.
The investigation conducted so far had revealed that the murder has been committed by attacking the deceased with a sharp weapon following an argument between him and another person.
The suspect's mother has also been injured during the argument and is receiving treatment at the Weeraketiya Hospital, according to police.
The suspect, a 29-year-old resident of Medamulana area, has been arrested.
The body has been placed at the Weeraketiya Hospital morgue and Weeraketiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
