The number of dengue-related deaths reported in Sri Lanka so far this year has risen to 31, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The latest figures, based on data collected on June 25 and 26, indicate that the case fatality rate currently stands at 0.06% of all reported dengue infections.
A total of 51,049 dengue cases have been recorded from across the country so far this year.
Of these, 17,208 cases were reported in June alone, reflecting a significant increase in infections during the month.
The highest number of dengue cases have been reported from the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Eastern provinces, the NDCU said.
Meanwhile, 124 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions have been identified as high-risk areas for dengue transmission.
