Four killed in separate road accidents across the island

Four people have been killed in four separate road accidents reported across the country, according to police.

 

A 29-year-old motorcyclist from Kumbukwewa has been killed after his motorcycle collided head-on with a lorry on the Matale–Kurunegala road near the Kuda Oya Bridge in the Maduragoda Police Division.

 

In another accident, an 18-year-old motorcyclist from Handungamuwa has died after his motorcycle struck a peacock on the Hettipola–Wasgamuwa road, causing him to lose control and crash into a tree.

 

He had succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Mahiyanganaya Hospital.

 

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old bus conductor from Udugampola had died after a three-wheeler crashed into a group of passengers and the conductor who were standing near a broken-down bus on the Padeniya–Anuradhapura road in the Mahawa Police Division.

 

He later had died while receiving treatment at the Kurunegala Hospital, police said.

 

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old motorcyclist from Padiyathalawa has been killed after his motorcycle collided with a lorry on the Peradeniya–Chenkaladi road in the Padiyathalawa Police Division.

 

Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
