Final report on missing US$2.5 mln Treasury funds to be tabled in Parliament next week
Final report on missing US$2.5 mln Treasury funds to be tabled in Parliament next week

The final report into the disappearance of US$2.5 million from the Treasury will be presented to Parliament in the coming weeks, according to Chair of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF), MP Harsha de Silva.

He said the report has been prepared based on submissions made by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) regarding the incident.

The draft report has already been circulated among all members of the Committee on Public Finance for their observations.

Speaking on the matter, Harsha de Silva said the committee held three rounds of discussions with Treasury and Central Bank officials and reviewed two separate reports submitted by the institutions. He noted that the Central Bank had presented its own report independently, as it did not agree with many of the findings submitted by the Treasury.

He added that the committee had analysed both reports and prepared a draft, which has now been shared with committee members for feedback. Once their comments are received, the committee expects to finalise the report at its meeting next Tuesday and table it in Parliament the following week.

Harsha de Silva stressed that the report would reflect the collective views of the committee members rather than his personal opinion as Chair, following a thorough analysis and consensus among all members.
