
The spread of dengue in Sri Lanka continues to intensify amid the prevailing rainy weather conditions, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The NDCU stated that the number of reported dengue cases in Sri Lanka so far this year has surpassed the 54,000 mark, with a total of 54,189 cases recorded to date.
Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said that between 950 and 1,000 dengue cases are being reported daily.
He further revealed that 1,030 dengue cases were reported within the past 24 hours alone, and called for public cooperation as dengue control programmes are scheduled to continue over the next three days.
