Three motorcyclists from a group that travelled on 15 motorcycles to view waterfalls on Poson Poya Day have been arrested by the Norton Bridge Police.
According to the police, around 30 youths from the Kuliyapitiya area travelled on 15 motorcycles yesterday (29) to visit the Gartmore, Moray, Laxapana, and Aberdeen waterfalls via Norton Bridge in view of Poson Poya Day.
When police officers attempted to inspect the motorcycles, three of the youths allegedly fled the scene. However, they were subsequently apprehended following a police chase.
Police said the arrested youths were found to be riding motorcycles without valid driving licences.
The suspects, aged between 17 and 21, are scheduled to be produced before the Hatton Magistrate’s Court today (30).
