Five arrested for obstructing police officers on duty in Veyangoda

A total of five individuals have been arrested for allegedly obstructing police officers on duty and using criminal force against them during a Mihindu Perahera in Veyangoda, police said.

 

The incident occurred yesterday (29) in Wataddara, where police officers were deployed to manage traffic for the procession.

 

According to police, a group travelling in a cab obstructed officers while they were carrying out traffic control duties.

 

The suspects, aged 20 and 21, are residents of Nittambuwa and Yakkala.

 

Further investigations are being conducted by Veyangoda Police.
