Death toll in Wanathawilluwa drowning incident increases to four
Another schoolboy who drowned after a raft toppled into a tank in Wanathawilluwa has passed away, police stated.
Accordingly, the death toll has increased to four.
Earlier it was reported that three school students died by drowning in a tank.
The incident occurred when five schoolboys were travelling by raft to collect flowers. The raft overturned, causing all five to fall into the water.
One student was rescued at the scene, while the others were admitted to the Wanathawilluwa Hospital.
Three students who were in critical condition were later transferred to the Puttalam Base Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The deceased are Grade 11 students from a school in the area.
