81-year-old woman arrested with 728g of ‘Ice’ in Colombo

An 81-year-old woman has been arrested after police recovered 728 grams of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice) during a raid along the Vithanage Mawatha in Kompannavidiya, police said.

 

The raid was carried out by officers of the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) based on a tip-off.

 

Police said the narcotics were found inside a house owned by the suspect, a resident of Colombo 02. The woman was taken into custody and handed over to the Kompannavidiya Police Station.

 

During the operation, the suspect’s son, who was also present at the location, fled the scene. 

 

Police said further investigations are underway to arrest him.
