New Navy Commander calls on Defence Secretary

Newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, has paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha, at the Ministry of Defence today (July 1).

 

The meeting marked Vice Admiral Fernando’s first official meeting with the Defence Secretary after assuming command as the 27th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.

 

During the meeting, the Defence Secretary, while welcoming the newly appointed Navy Commander, extended his congratulations and expressed confidence in Vice Admiral Fernando’s ability to lead the Sri Lanka Navy with professionalism, dedication, and strategic vision, while further enhancing its operational excellence and proud traditions, the Ministry stated.

 

Vice Admiral Fernando received his letter of appointment from the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (June 30).
